Signature Events
VIP Etiquette Dinner
The VIP Etiquette Dinner is a signature fall event that offers students the opportunity to build confidence in professional dining and networking settings. Led by an experienced etiquette coach, this workshop-style dinner provides real-time guidance through a multi-course meal, covering essential etiquette skills such as introductions, passing food, handling unfamiliar dishes, and navigating different dining styles.
Held on campus each October, the event invites students from all majors to engage in structured, meaningful conversation with Mines alumni seated at every table. It’s a unique opportunity to sharpen your soft skills, make connections, and gain practical knowledge in a relaxed, supportive environment.
VIP Symposium
Every spring, VIP hosts the annual VIP Symposium, a signature event designed to sharpen your professional skills and expand your network. The evening begins with an interactive workshop led by an expert in professional development, offering practical tools for building confidence and communication. After the session, put your skills into practice during a structured networking mixer with industry guests, faculty, and peers. Enjoy great food, make meaningful connections, and walk away with tools to help you thrive in professional settings.
Countdown to Career
Countdown to Career is a signature spring event cohosted by VIP and the Career Center to help students prepare for their upcoming summer internships. This casual, on-campus gathering offers practical advice for navigating the transition from college to the workplace, with optional student-led breakout sessions covering topics such as first-day tips, goal setting, and living independently.
Students hear insights from peers who have previously interned, ask questions in a low-pressure setting, and enjoy snacks and conversation in a welcoming environment designed to build confidence before summer begins.
