Program activities include alumni/professional mentoring programming, guest lectures, workshops, peer advising, and enhanced professional development programming.
Why an Internship?
Why an Internship?
The VIP Professional Development internship is a necessary component of this program. It is key that the student perspective is incorporated into the design of the program, to ensure effective results. VIP Interns assist in program development through:
- Research and benchmarking on current career competency trends and professional development needs to keep Mines students competitive as they enter the workforce.
- Website, marketing, social media, and resource development to educate orediggers on the importance of professional development and promote upcoming events.
- End to end event management from creation to execution, ensuring a positive, educational, and fun experience for event attendees.
- Workshop creation and delivery to student organizations and classrooms.
- Peer advising to other students on career and professional best practices.
Each year, new interns will be brought on to improve upon the program for the upcoming year. This gives an opportunity for students to enhance the professional development program for all Mines students over time. As the world changes, so will students’ experiences. The perspective student interns bring will always be invaluable in keeping the program relevant and modern. In sum, this program will continue to grow and change throughout the years to better help students at Mines gain skills for the workplace.
Graduates of Mines are unquestionably academically advanced, and the VIP Professional Development will bolster their professional skills.
